What the City file showed

Counts from inspections dated Sep 27 to Oct 26, 2026, pulled Oct 27, 2026. Past data, not a forecast.

248food businesses with a pest infraction (266 infractions)
51–67food businesses a week across the four full weeks in that window
102of those inspections ended in a Conditional Pass
44median food businesses a week, Nov 2023 – Oct 2026

The City file covers food businesses of every kind (takeout, bakeries, grocers, institutional kitchens and more). It does not label the type.

How it works

The City publishes the inspections. We send you the pest ones.

  1. We read the City file every morning. We download the full food-premises inspection file the City refreshes daily and keep the rows with pest infractions: entry, harbouring and breeding of pests, missing pest-control records, and rodent or insect health hazards.
  2. You get what is new. We compare against yesterday's file, so each food business shows up when it appears. Leads are grouped by district and show severity and inspection result.
  3. You check it before you reach out. Every lead links to its record on the City's public site. Plain email — no app, no login.

FAQ

Common questions

Where does the data come from?

The City of Toronto's food-premises inspection dataset on its open data portal, which the City refreshes daily. We do not scrape anything and we do not add to the data. Every lead links back to the City's own record. Contains information licensed under the Open Government Licence – Toronto.

How many leads will I get?

It depends on what inspectors find, so we do not promise a number. For context, 248 food businesses got a pest infraction in inspections from Sep 27 to Oct 26, 2026 (266 infractions), about 51–67 a week in the full weeks of that window. The weekly median since November 2023 is 44. Some days will be quiet.

Is this limited to one kind of food business?

No. The City's file covers food businesses of every kind: takeout, bakeries, cafés, grocers, and institutional kitchens such as schools and daycares. It does not label the type, so you will see all of them and can skip the ones you do not serve.

Does an infraction mean the place has pests?

Not always. "Fail to protect against entry of pests" (164 of the last 30 days' infractions) can mean a door gap or an unsealed pipe. Harbouring (67) and breeding (19) point to activity. We show the inspector's exact wording, severity and result so you can decide which to act on.

Who is this for?

GTA pest-control firms that serve food businesses, and food-safety consultants who help those businesses prepare for inspections and fix citations.

How fresh is it?

The City says results are usually posted within 24 to 36 hours of an inspection. We send what is new in each morning's file.

Is this from the City?

No. We are independent and not affiliated with or endorsed by the City of Toronto. We reuse its open data under the Open Government Licence – Toronto.

Can I cancel?

Yes. Cancel anytime. No contract.

What about other cities?
